7 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Find at Red Stick Spice

For anyone in the Baton Rouge area looking for something fun to do, a cooking class at Red Stick Spice makes the top of the list. This gourmet spice shop is known for their creative group cooking classes. But today I’m here to share 7 other things you should know about Red Stick Spice.

I’ve been a fan of Red Stick Spice for years and after attending several cooking classes and browsing their shop, I’m like wait… there’s a lot of cool stuff happening here! …Like A LOT.

Red Stick Spice is located on the corner of Jefferson Hwy and Government Street in Midcity. When you walk in, you’ll find a shop full of spices, tea blends, cooking tools, gadgets, oils and local jellies, honey and more.

Their newly renovated kitchen is to your left. It’s gorgeous. And to your right is their new SoGo Tea Bar.. but more on that below!

Check out the 7 things you didn’t know about Red Stick Spice.

1- Private Cooking Classes

Their calendar is full of cooking classes ranging from one pot dinners and simple suppers to Mediterranean small plates and chili and salsa masterclasses. But did you know you could also reserve their teaching kitchen for your own private cooking class? You bring your group and pick your menu. Red Stick Spice has all your ingredients prepared and teaches your class. Then you get to enjoy your full meal at the end. | Learn More About Private Cooking Classes

2- Farm, Food & Cooking Tours

This cooking class goes beyond the kitchen. It’s a day-long food and farm adventure around Baton Rouge. These tours are offered on select Saturdays and include stops at The Red Stick Farmers Market, Iverstine Farms and Fullness Farm. The day ends back in the kitchen with a cooking class. | Learn More About Farm, Food & Cooking Tours

3- Olive Oils, Tastings & Refill Program

Do you really live in Baton Rouge without Red Stick Spice oils in your pantry? You can shop them here. But to take it further, Red Stick Spice offers olive oil tastings. And when it comes to recycling your glass bottles, Red Stick Spice will refill your olive oil and balsamic bottles for a discounted price. | Learn More About Sustainability Here

4- Subscription Box

Red Stick Spice has a monthly subscription box where you can get full-sized products delivered to your door. The boxes include olive oils, a spice blend jar, filled tea tin, infused sugar extract, a local artisanal product and lots of lagniappe. | Learn More About The Subscription Box

5- SoGo Tea Bar, tea lattes & wellness drinks

SoGo Tea is Red Stick’s very own brand of hand-blended teas — and now tea bar! This is a full-service tea bar offering in-house tea blends. Stop in and grab a tea to go. Or shop Red Stick Spice’s extensive tea selection, including teas for wellness. This includes pre and postpartum teas, immune support teas, mood boosting teas and more. | Learn More About SoGo Tea

6- A tea sommelier + trained chef

Anne Milneck is our local spice girl and the brains behind Red Stick Spice. But did you know she’s also a tea sommelier and trained chef? She shares her expertise in cooking classes and on her podcast, Smidgen. Tune in for talks about food, home cooking, how to use spices, and the joy of making flavorful meals that your whole family will love. | Learn More About Smidgen

7- Hundreds of recipes (and counting)

Red Stick Spice’s blog is full of hundreds of recipes, including dinner, appetizers, soups, stews, sides, salads, drinks and dessert. You can even search for recipes based on an ingredient! | Read Their Blog
